Dr M's sons have declared their assets, say MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The two sons of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad have declared their assets to the Malaysian Anti--Corruption Commission (MACC), says Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The MACC chief commissioner said both Tan Sri Mohkzani Mahathir and Mirzan Mahathir managed to declare their assets within the stipulated time.

"They have done so but the investigators are still finalising the details with their respective lawyers.

"The most important thing is that they have declared (their assets)," he told reporters during a press conferece at the MACC headquarters on Wednesday (Sept 18),

Initially, the MACC had told the two brothers to declare their assets within 30 days in January 2024. Since then, they have been granted multiple extensions.

It was reported that the commission had directed Mokhzani and his eldest brother Mirzan to declare the assets they had accumulated since 1981, the year Dr Mahathir became prime minister for the first time.
