KOTA KINABALU: A 43-year-old Filipino man was sentenced by the Sandakan Sessions Court to a total of 40 years in prison and 20 strokes of the cane for raping his daughter on two occasions.
The man pleaded guilty to raping his daughter twice in 2018 and 2019 and also to molesting his daughter who is now 18-years old.
Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal handed down the sentence after the man admitted to the two rape charges framed under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
For the two cases, Judge Zaini sentenced the man to 20 years and 10 lashes for each of the charges with the jail terms running concurrently.
He was also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation on completion of the sentence.
