Anwar, Prabowo determined to improve bilateral relationships


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesia president-elect Prabowo Subianto determined to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister, in a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 7), said it was one of several things touched upon in the meeting with Prabowo on Saturday afternoon.

"Met my close friend, President-elect of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, this afternoon.

"We touched on several matters of mutual interest, the most important of which is our determination to improve bilateral ties between two friendly countries.

"We are also determined to strengthen and guarantee Asean regional cooperation," he said.

Anwar said he was also pleased to accept Prabowo's invitation to the Indonesian President's inauguration ceremony on Oct 20 in Jakarta.

Prabowo, who is also the country's Defense Minister, will take over the reins of the Indonesian government from President Joko Widodo this October. – Bernama
