UiTM Sabah rector honoured with Sabah's Outstanding Woman Award

KOTA KINABALU: Associate Professor Dr Rozita @ Uji Mohammed has been awarded the Sabah Outstanding Woman Award to recognise her decades-long efforts to empower women and spur the state’s socio-economic development.

The award was presented during the Sabah State Women's Day Celebration 2024 on August 23, organised by the Sabah Women's Affairs Department (JHEWA).

Rozita, who assumed the role of rector at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sabah on July 3 last year, was honoured for her exceptional career accomplishments, contributions to women's and community development, and dedication to Sabah's advancement.

“This award reaffirms my commitment to furthering the development of our state and community, with a particular focus on empowering women and improving educational standards,” she said in a statement by the university on Monday (Aug 26).

With a PhD in Islamic Finance from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Rozita has 25 years of experience in both academia and industry.

Her expertise in finance, leadership, and operations management has significantly enhanced UiTM Sabah's capabilities, the university added in the statement.

“This accolade not only celebrates Rozita's remarkable achievements but also serves as an inspiration for women to pursue progress across various fields and contribute to state and national development.”
