Passerby rescues family from fire in Banting


BANTING: A member of the public who had helped firemen rescue a family trapped in a fire was injured after being hit by glass splinters when dousing a fire in Jalan Toman 16 here.

In the incident which occurred early Saturday (Aug 17) morning, four double storey terrace houses suffered fire damage ranging from 1% to 30%.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar three people were also trapped at the rear portion of one of the houses.

"They were successfuĺy brought out of the house with the help of members of the public," said Ahmad Mukhlis.

The trapped victims were two women aged 45 and 21 as well as a five-year-old child.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the department received the distress call at 1.15am and one fire engine each from the Banting, KLIA and Telok Panglima Garang fire stations had rushed to the scene.

Two cars and two motorcycles were also damaged in the fire.

Apart from Raja Putra Akmal Naim Raja Kamarul Zahari, who was hit by glass splinters, no one else was injured in the incident.
