Boy drowns while swimming in resort pool

KUALA TERENGGANU: A four-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a resort pool in Kuala Nerus on Saturday afternoon (Aug 10).

Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the boy was found unconscious by a visitor. The child had been swimming with his older siblings, aged 14 and 12, while his mother was nearby at a table with their one-year-old sibling.

The mother noticed the boy was missing when her eldest child came up for a drink and heard a visitor shouting.

The visitor, who had been searching for the boy's parents, carried him to the poolside and attempted to administer CPR, but the boy showed no response.

Azli said the child was taken to Seberang Takir Health Clinic, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff en route. The case is classified as sudden death. – Bernama
