CITY OF MALOLOS, (Philippines): The bodies of three drowning victims in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and Caloocan City have been recovered, according to the Bulacan provincial disaster risk reduction management office (PDRRMO).
Manuel Lukban Jr., head of the Bulacan PDRRMO, said the body of 17-year-old John Norbert Nipay, who went missing in Santo Cristo River on Monday (Aug 10), was recovered at the Macaiban River in Sta. Maria town on Wednesday (Aug 12) afternoon.
The body of 13-year-old Ronjean Justine Alseco, who vanished while swimming at the Gaya-gaya River during the height of the habagat on Monday, was found in the Nagbalon River in Marilao, Bulacan, on Thursday (Aug 13) morning.
Lukban said rescuers in Sta. Maria and in Marilao fished out their bodies after being alerted by fishermen.
According to the PDRRMO head, Santo Cristo River is connected to Macaiban River in Sta. Maria town, while Gaya-gaya River converges with Nagbalon River in Marilao.
While retrieving Alseco, rescuers also found an unidentified male body floating in Nagbalon River which, Lukban said, could be one of the missing drowning victims in Barangays 176 and 171 in Caloocan City.
