Chegubard remanded for two days, says Comm Rusdi


KUALA LUMPUR: Badrul Hisham Shaharin also known as Chegubard (pic) has been remanded for two days in connection with his allegations of corruption involving a senior naval officer, says Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

The Kuala Lumpur police chief said the suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (July 30).

"This is a normal process, where the offences being investigated allow us to detain the suspect.

"He has been remanded for two days," he told a press conference on Monday (July 29)

He said this after witnessing the handing over ceremony for the Dang Wangi OCPD post between outgoing OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya and Supt Nuzulan Mohd Din, who will be holding the post in an acting capacity.

Asked whether Chegubard's remand would be extended, Comm Rusdi said it would depend on the needs of the investigation.

On Sunday (July 28), Chegubard was arrested.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz confirmed the arrest while His lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali in a statement said that the Bersatu member was arrested at 3pm today at the Putrajaya police headquarters.

He said that his client was being investigated over his allegations of corruption involving a senior naval officer.

Rafique added that Badrul was being investigated under Section 203A of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
