Candlelight vigil for poisoned dogs in Tanjung Bungah


GEORGE TOWN: Tanjung Bungah residents are organising a candlelight vigil for dogs that died due to suspected poisoning in the area.

Organiser Linda Ong said the vigil on Thursday (July 18) is to pay tribute to the more than 20 dogs that perished.

It was reported that 27 dogs, mostly trap-neuter-release strays and a pet husky, in the Tanjung Bungah area were believed to have been poisoned over the past week. Dead birds were said to have been found dead in the area as well.

It was believed that either the grass in the area was laced with poison or someone was placing poison-laced food in the park.

A police report regarding the poisoning has been lodged.

The candlelight vigil will be held at Mira Residences parking lot, Lintang Lembah Permai 17, Tanjung Bungah, at 7pm.
