Ipoh man pleads guilty to murdering brother and sister-in-law


IPOH: An unemployed man pleaded guilty in the High Court on Tuesday (July 16) to two charges of murdering his brother and sister-in-law in Bercham in July 2022.

Ng Chun Ming, 63, admitted to the two charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code before Justice Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed.

He now faces either the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years and whipping up to 12 times.

According to the prosecution, Chun Ming was accused of fatally injuring his elder brother, Ng Chun Hon, 66, and his sister-in-law, Ooi Tin Lu, 61, with an axe.

The incident is said to have taken place at Taman Bercham Aman between 6.45pm on July 6, 2022, and 8.20am on July 7, 2022.

Chun Ming was arrested in Genting Highlands on the same day of the incident at 7.45pm.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Saiful Akmal Mod Said prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyers Amir Faliq Mohamad Jamil, Afina Abdul Hakim, and Nurhusna Mohd Tharimazi.

Justice Abdul Wahab has set Aug 1 for sentencing.
