Man sets self on fire after stabbing wife

A MAN in Tamil Nadu, India, who stabbed his wife in a domestic dispute, killed himself by self-immolation to avoid police questioning, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Samsudeen, 42, who had an alcohol problem, stabbed Fatimah, 38, during a fight on Tuesday.

She was rushed to the hospital by neighbours who came to her aid.

The inebriated Samsudeen, paranoid about being arrested, doused himself with petrol and set himself alight.

He sustained serious burns and died from his injuries.

> Malaysia Nanban also reported that a group of Indian students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris crafted a first-of-its-kind Tamil comic.

The initiative was supported by Service Learning Malaysia-University for Society as part of the students’ coursework.

Fifty-six students were involved in creating the comic.

Lecturer Dr Kaaminy Kanapathy, who oversaw the project, said the 40- to 50-minute sessions with the book proved engaging and an effective tool for teaching.
