Local man detained in Ipoh for alleged sodomy

PETALING JAYA: A local man was detained for allegedly sodomising his foreigner gym buddy at a condominium here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said the suspect was detained in Ipoh, Perak, by a team from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters and Selangor state police headquarters at about 11.45am on Friday (July 12).

"He has been brought to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters.

"We will apply for the suspect's remand," he said when contacted on Friday (July 12).

It was reported that a 25-year-old foreign man was allegedly sodomised by a local man he met at a condominium's gymnasium here.

ACP Shahrulnizam had said the victim lodged a police report on Friday (July 5) stating he was sodomised by a local man, who was a gym buddy.

"He met the suspect for the first time in March.

"On July 4, the suspect had invited the victim to his condominium unit to talk.

"At the suspect's home, the suspect took off the victim's clothing and touched the victim's body and private parts before sodomising him," he said.

The victim did not shout for help as he did not want neighbours to know or hear the incident, he said.

"The victim received treatment at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

"Checks by medical officers discovered that there was a tear in the victim's anus. He was allowed to go home once the treatment was completed," he said.

ACP Shahrulnizam said the case is classified under Section 377B of the Penal Code for voluntarily committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

"We urge those with information to contact the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters' operations room at 03-7966 2222," he said.
