Immigration Department nabs 75 in prostitution den raid

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 75 individuals, including 67 foreigners, were detained by Immigration officers following raids on eight prostitution dens in the Klang Valley.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the operation, which began at 1.45pm on July 4, was conducted at two locations in Jalan Tun Razak.

"Among the other locations were Jalan Pudu in Kuala Lumpur, Kampung Baru Subang and Puchong city centre.

"We detained 57 foreign women–32 Indonesians, 11 Bangladeshi, eight Vietnamese and six Indian nationals–as well as seven Bangladeshi men, two male Myanmar nationals and an Indonesian men aged 17 to 46.

"Seven Malaysian men and a Malaysian woman aged 23 to 65 were also nabbed in the operation," he said in a statement.

He said checks revealed that 13 Indonesian women and four Vietnamese women had valid passes, while two other Indonesian women and a Vietnamese woman had overstayed.

"We seized a mobile phone, 15 Indonesian passports, five Vietnamese passports, RM1,750 cash and 10 customer registration books," he said.

Ruslin said the syndicate offered massage and sex services.

"Customers will go to the premises and pick the foreign women they wanted based on catalogues provided.

"They could also pick based on photos of the foreign women on Telegram and WhatsApp.

"Customers will pay cash to the caretakers of premises before entering a room. They are charged between RM100 and RM400 for an hour," he said.

All foreigners detained were brought to the Immigration depot in Semenyih, he said.

"We also issued notices to assist with the investigation to three Nepalese men, a Bangladeshi man, 14 Malaysian men and a Malaysian woman," he said.
