Sg Bakap polls: Women play critical role in winning elections, says Nancy

NIBONG TEBAL: Women play a critical role in winning elections, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) women's vice-chief said that women have access to more areas as they are friendly and have a warm touch.

“They can help explain the services the government provides,” she told reporters after an event at Jalan Sungai Kechil on Sunday (June 30).

Nancy then said there are many things women can do to help the community and added that while men do help, most grassroots work is mainly done by women.

She said that many ministerial programmes such as community-based rehabilitation (PDK), need to be initiated by the community and are mostly conducted by women.

Earlier, the Women, Family, and Community Development Minister officiated the presentation ceremony of replica cheques, certificates, and wheelchairs to the ministry’s target groups at the Sungai Kechil Village Community Hall.

She also handed over financial assistance amounting to RM558,723.60 to Puteri Gunung PPDK during the ceremony.

The funds cover allowances for disabled trainees, stipends for supervisors and staff, premises rent, and utilities.

She also spent time visiting several booths set up by agencies and departments under the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry.
