Media groups unite for positive impact

PETALING JAYA: With a vision to mould a sustainable and thriving Asia, the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium (A-EPIC) works to be a catalyst for sustainability initiatives across the region, creating lasting positive change.

The first cross-border alliance of its kind in the region, Star Media Group (SMG), Indonesia’s Media Group of Kompas Gramedia (KG Media) and Philippine’s Inquirer Group of Companies (IGC) are harnessing the power of collaboration to drive influence of ESG principles in mainstream media.

Besides providing clear guidance and recognition for companies to adopt ESG practices through thought-leadership workshops and educational content, A-EPIC also offers networking, collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities by bringing media, policymakers, and businesses together.

SMG group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt said the consortium believes in collaboration over competition and is looking forward to forming more ties with media houses and businesses to expand the alliance’s mission in igniting change and making an impact for a sustainable future.

He hoped more organisations would follow Sime Darby Property Berhad’s steps in becoming an Urban Biodiversity Partner of A-EPIC’s initiatives.

Chan noted that the consortium is carrying out a three-pronged strategy focusing on education, engagement and community which will be led by each of the group’s brands (pullouts) – StarESG, KG Media Lestari and the Inquirer ESG Edge.

– Education: Integrating sustainability into the social consciousness through a comprehensive media strategy that will bridge the communication gap between policymakers, businesses, investors and the general public.
