NIBONG TEBAL: A PAS lawmaker from Perak has challenged the unity government to contest against Perikatan Nasional candidates without using government machinery during the Sungai Bakap state by-election.

Manjoi assemblyman Mohd Hafez Sabri accused the ruling coalition of deploying government resources to gain votes from Sungai Bakap voters.

"I challenge the unity government to fight us one-on-one, as gentlemen, and not use government machinery," he said during the launch of Perikatan youth's election machinery for the Sungai Bakap state by-election.

The Perak PAS youth chief claimed many civil servants are fed up with the ruling coalition's alleged misuse of government machinery in the upcoming poll.

"Perikatan youth will face the unity government coalition, especially Pakatan Harapan youth, as gentlemen and not with the might of any government machinery," he added.

He also warned the unity government against making false promises to the people during the Sungai Bakap state election.

He urged Perikatan youth to work hard to ensure that Sungai Bakap remains a stronghold for the coalition in Penang.
