Man succumbs to injuries in head-on collision in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A man died in a head-on collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on Sunday morning.

Identified as Mohammad Fazley Sagih, the 30-year-old succumbed to serious injuries after he was involved in the accident at around 6am at the Batangan Bridge along the CKS Road in Tuaran.

Tuaran Fire and Rescue Services Department Mohamad Nor Amit said a team of 10 men were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.44am, which is two-kilometres away from the station, four minutes later.

“When the team arrived, the victim was found pinned in his car.

“Works were immediately carried out and the victim was successfully freed from the wrecked car,” said Mohamad Nor.

The victim, however, succumbed to serious injuries and was pronounced dead by medical officials.

Mohamad Nor said the 48-year-old driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle escaped unhurt.

The body was later handed to the police for further action.

“The operation was called off at 7am,” he said.
