Man dies after car crashes into roundabout in Johor


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 41-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into a roundabout at Kampung Sungai Melayu, here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the police received a report regarding the incident at 4am on Sunday (June 2).

“Initial investigation revealed that the victim was heading towards Gelang Patah from Puteri Harbour before suddenly losing control of his vehicle.

“The victim then crashed into the roundabout and suffered serious injury to the head and right legs,” he said in a statement here on Monday (June 3).

ACP Kumarasan added that there was also a 36-year-old male passenger in the vehicle who only suffered a minor injury; the driver was pronounced dead at the location.

Those with information on the incident are urged to call the Iskandar Puteri Traffic Investigation Department at 07-5101322.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a 74-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into a tree at Jalan Panti 6, Taman Johor, in Johor Baru.

Johor Baru North Deputy OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the police were notified about the incident at 4.13am on Monday.

“The accident is believed to have occurred when the victim was heading towards Ledang and suddenly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree at the roadside.

“The victim suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location,” he said.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving.
