Penang state assembly reconvenes


GEORGE TOWN: The Penang state assembly reconvened at the state legislative assembly building in Light Street on Friday (May 24).

The first meeting of the Second Session of the 15th Penang Legislative Assembly proceeded smoothly with state Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang and his wife Datin Teoh Hooi Tuang arriving at the hall at 9.15am.

Five minutes later, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow arrived with his wife Tan Lean Kee.

The Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and his wife Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Nor arrived at about 9.30am.

A 102-men honour guard, led by Deputy Supt Mohd Ifazan Ishak and Asst Supt Mohd Hakim Mohd Said, was mounted for Ahmad Fuzi, followed by the singing of the National and state anthems.

Ahmad Fuzi is scheduled to give his opening speech and officiate at the state assembly sitting.
