KKB polls: Result shows Pakatan and Barisan should work together in GE16, says Johor rep

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional should continue working together in the next general election to strengthen their position, says Johor balancing force chief Andrew Chen Kah Eng.

The Stulang assemblyman, who is also state DAP secretary, said Pakatan’s win in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election reflected the people’s support for the unity government.

“The win shows that the Pakatan-Barisan partnership has borne fruit.

“Pakatan and Barisan should continue cooperating and head to the next general election together to ensure a shared victory in future,” he said in his speech during the debate portion of the state assembly sitting at Kota Iskandar here on Sunday (May 12).

In Johor, the Opposition is known as a balancing force following state Ruler Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia’s suggestion for the term to be changed to create a more balanced state assembly.

Pakatan’s 31-year-old candidate Pang Sock Tao won the KKB by-election with a 3,869-vote majority.

She obtained 14,000 votes against Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut who obtained 10,131 votes, Independent Nyau Ke Xin (188) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin (152).
