KKB polls: Perikatan to determine if they have grounds for election petition

HULU SELANGOR: Perikatan Nasional says they will file an election petition on the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election result if there are sufficient grounds to do so, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).

"We will look into what we can do and definitely take further action," the Bersatu deputy president said when asked during a press conference at the Perikatan operations centre in Batang Kali on Saturday (May 11).

Earlier this week, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan claimed Pakatan Harapan had abused its power and misused government machinery for its campaign.

Takiyuddin said Perikatan would file an election petition if Pakatan won the polls.

According to the Election Commission, Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao won the seat with 14,000 votes against Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut's 10,131 votes, a 3,869-vote majority.

Ahmad Faizal said that early analysis showed that Perikatan had made gains in some polling districts.

"There are encouraging gains. Voter turnout was also low at around 61%.

"We accept the results and we will work harder next time, and God-willing, we will return to KKB," added Ahmad Faizal

He also said the outcome of the KKB polls showed more youths voted for Perikatan.
