Senate president Mutang receiving treatment in KL on return from Azerbaijan


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Mutang Tagal is currently receiving follow-up medical treatment here after returning from his visit to Azerbaijan.

The Dewan Negara president arrived in Malaysia at 1am on Monday (May 6) from a working visit (to Azerbaijan) to receive treatment following health issues he experienced while on the trip, the Dewan Negara President’s Office said in a statement.

"He (Mutang) was taken to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur to receive medical treatment.

"He was in Azerbaijan for a working visit, which began on April 29, but has returned ahead of schedule.

"He thanks all those in Malaysia and Azerbaijan who helped with his treatment while there as well as during his return to Malaysia for further treatment.

"He further expresses his gratitude to all those who have sent well wishes and prayers for his speedy recovery.

"He appreciates the time and space given to him and his family during this treatment period," the statement further read.

During his visit to Azerbaijan, Mutang led the Malaysian delegation to attend the "6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue" which took place from May 1 to 3 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Before attending the forum, he paid a courtesy call on Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Azerbaijan Milli Mejlis (National Assembly) Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, in addition to attending meetings and briefings by industry players in the country.
