Two more cops nabbed over RM1.25mil extortion case


PETALING JAYA: Two more policemen are the latest to be arrested over a RM1.25mil extortion case.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the duo, with inspector and sergeant ranks respectively, have been held for further investigation in the case but did elaborate further.

"With the arrest of the inspector and sergeant, a total of five individuals have been held to date," Sinar Harian quoted the IGP as saying on Saturday (May 4).

It was reported on Friday (May 3) that an investigation had been opened and three senior police officers arrested over the RM1.25mil extortion case.

Razarudin said the senior offices ranked Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Superintendent and Inspector between the ages of 38 and 50 were arrested near Jalan Tun Razak.

He said investigations were being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit, Law/Prosecution, Criminal Investigation Department, Bukit Aman under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
