Man, 44, shot dead after hunting buddy mistakes him for a wild boar


SIBU: A 44-year-old man has been found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest after his hunting buddy mistook him for a wild boar on Saturday (April 27).

The incident happened in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Beradek, Kuching.

Kuching OCPD Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah said the police received a report regarding the case at 11.48am.

"The 44-year-old victim was found dead at the scene.

"Police have arrested a 38-year-old man and seized a shotgun for further investigations,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 8 (a) Firearms Act 1960 for possession or carrying arms and ammunition without an arms licence or permit.
