MCA still willing partner in unity government, says Saifuddin Nasution

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA is still a willing partner and component party of the unity government, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

When asked about their refusal to aid in the Kota Kubu Baharu by-election, Saifuddin said that the relationship between the parties in the unity government is still strong.

"MCA remains a component party in the unity government as part of Barisan Nasional. Recently there was a meeting between the leaders and I was seated next to (Datuk Seri Dr) Wee Ka Siong.

"When I chaired the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional meeting last week, the MCA representative was also there.

So I take their presence as a symbol of willingness and readiness to work together," he said when met at a community policing festival at the Sri Sabah flats on Saturday (April 27).

On Friday (April 19), MCA stated that it would not campaign in the ongoing by-election if the candidate was not from Barisan.
