PETALING JAYA: The news of her close friend’s death left her trembling.

“I don’t know how to describe my feelings. I just sat down and started quivering,” said Haslinda Hashim in a post on Facebook.

Her schoolmate Petty Officer Noor Rahiza Anuar was among the 10 navy crew members who lost their lives in a devastating mid-air collision between two helicopters yesterday.

Haslinda said she had initially seen a photo of Noor Rahiza being circulated, but her name was not on the list of victims.

However, she said Noor Rahiza’s family later confirmed the news.

Haslinda was among the many friends of the crash victims who took to social media to share their shock and sorrow.

Monica Apoi lost her friend Joanna Felicia Rohna.

“Imagine if you often see her uploading photos with her children (on Facebook). Then all of a sudden, she is a victim in a helicopter crash.

“Pity her children who are still young and will miss the love of their mother,” Monica said in her post, which included a photograph of Joanna in army fatigues sitting in a helicopter with two other women who were also in army uniform.

The post was based on a message sent out by a Sarawakian on Facebook named Affy Johary, who conveyed his condolences to the victims, particularly Joanna who hailed from Serian, Sarawak.

Siti Norhasliza Zainudin said she knew all three women who perished in the tragedy.

“The entire navy is sad. Condolences to the victims’ families. Al Fatihah and RIP. Be at peace on the other side,” she wrote.

Actress Eyra Hazali said her cousin’s husband – Lt Cmdr Wan Rezaudeen Kamal Wan Zainal Abidin – was one of those who died.

“Al-Fatihah to all involved in the helicopter accident. May their souls be placed among the righteous.”

Anas Amdan described Wan Rezaudeen as his hero from the 2004 batch at St John’s Institution.

“We are proud that our friend was in the Royal Malaysian Navy and was serving the country. He was friendly and good. (I) met him last month; didn’t know that it would be the last time,” he wrote.

Zakaria Md Disa mourned the passing of his friend Warrant Officer II Muhammad Faisol Tamadun.

“May everything be eased on the other side. Wait for us,” he posted on Facebook.

Suzana Hamdan expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of her friend and former classmate Mohd Shahrizan Mohd Termizi.

“I did not expect that this Ramadan would be the last time we met,” Suzana wrote on Facebook yesterday.

The two helicopters involved in the crash were said to have been undergoing a fly-past rehearsal for the 90th Naval Day next month, which has since been cancelled.
