KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) has launched Ops Prihatin to help road users deal with any emergencies during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season.
Kedah APM director Lt-Col (PA) Zairil Anuar Zulmuji said 60 members would be on duty until April 14.
He said APM would carry out patrols and assist road users, including accident victims, with vehicle breakdowns, support disaster victims and respond to other emergency situations.
“The main state roads, federal roads, tourist spots and rest stops will be patrolled.
“Our personnel are on standby round-the-clock, working in three shifts – morning, afternoon and night,” he said when flagging off the state-level Ops Prihatin yesterday, Bernama reported.
In KUALA TERENGGANU, state APM director Mohd Rosman Abdullah said 96 officers and members had been assigned to patrol federal roads in the ongoing operation, which started on Friday.
It will run until April 9 for the first phase, and from April 12-14 for the second phase.
“During the festive season, with the roads heavily congested, we are committed to assisting road users by offering support, including minor vehicle repairs, to alleviate their burden.
“So far, we have helped six cases involving 13 victims affected by minor issues like flat tyres and running out of fuel,” he said after the launch of the operation at the Terengganu APM headquarters.
Mohd Rosman added that regular patrols would cover all eight districts in Terengganu from 8am to 11.50pm on those days.
