KKB by-election: Pakatan appoints Ng Sze Han as election director

PETALING JAYA: Selangor Pakatan Harapan has appointed Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han as its election director for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

The decision was made after a meeting on Sunday (April 7) following the Election Commission's announcement on the by-election date, said state Pakatan secretary Dr Mohd Khairuddin Othman.

"He (Ng) will be assisted by Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin, Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof and me.

"This team will coordinate the work for the campaign that will be drawn up by Selangor Pakatan. We will prepare and coordinate tasks related to the campaign with Pakatan's central committee and the parties under the unity government.

"The team will also establish the main committees that are set to move officially from nomination day (April 27), until polling day on May 11," he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that after the list of candidates submitted by DAP is approved by Pakatan's central committee, the candidate would be announced before nomination day.

Selangor Pakatan also took the opportunity to wish all Muslims in Malaysia "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri" and bid them a safe journey back to their hometowns.

On Thursday (April 4), the Election Commission (EC) set May 11 as polling day for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, with nomination and early voting on April 27 and May 7, respectively.

The seat became vacant following the death of its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong from DAP on March 21.

Lee, 58, who had been the Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman under the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency since 2013, had battled cancer for several years.

The by-election is the seventh to be held after the 15th General Election (GE15) in 2022.

The electoral roll for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election comprises 40,226 registered voters consisting of 39,362 regular voters, 625 police personnel, 238 military personnel and spouses and one absentee voter residing abroad.
