Man drowns in river near Old Klang Road while trying to save father


KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old man drowned while trying to save his father after he fell into a river near Old Klang Road.

The City Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement on Saturday (April 6), said that the department received a distress call at 11am on Friday (April 5) before dispatching firefighters to the scene near the Avant Court condominium in Taman Sentosa, Kuala Lumpur.

"The preliminary report from the victim's father showed that his son had been swept away by currents after trying to save him when he had fallen into the river," he said.

A search was conducted with the department's divers with the body of the victim being found at 12.59pm.

"The body has been handed over to the police at the location," he said.
