Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong passes away


PETALING JAYA: Three-term Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong passed away on Thursday (March 21) morning due to an illness.

Lee was born on March 16 and celebrated her 58th birthday last week.

Her DAP comrade Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong shared the sad news and expressed his condolences before he proceeded to raise his question during Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (March 21).

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari said, in a statement, that Lee's passing was a big loss.

"She will be missed, especially by Kuala Kubu Baharu residents whom she had represented and served since 2013," he said in the statement.

He also offered condolences to Lee's family and friends on behalf of the Selangor state government.

A message containing information on Lee's death was also shared among political circles.

It read, "Dear all, our dear comrade Lee Kee Hiong, ADUN Kuala Kubu Baharu has passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and party comrades.

"May her soul rest in eternal peace. We lift Kee Hiong for her sacrifices, dedication and loyalty to her party, community and country."
