Couple killed in early morning household fire


PETALING JAYA: A couple was killed when their Damansara Utama house caught fire in the early hours of Saturday (March 16) morning.

The victims have been identified as 61-year-old Kang Tsi Yam and his 55-year-old wife Leong Chen Mun

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said more than 10 firemen were deployed to the scene at about 5.13am.

"The double storey house was 70% burnt and three people were trapped inside. We managed to rescue a 14-year-old girl but her parents were killed in the fire," he said in a statement.

"We are still investigating the cause of the fire," he added.
