Teen among three nabbed in Kulai for lobbing Molotov cocktail into house

KULAI: A teenager is among three individuals arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail into the house of a senior citizen here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said the police received a report at about 1.50pm on Wednesday (March 13) from a 70-year-old local man who noticed burn marks on his house gate at Jalan Jelatik, Taman Damai here.

“The victim saw some burn marks at the front gate of his house upon reaching home. He then checked his CCTV and saw two unknown men on a motorcycle throwing Molotov cocktails at his gate.

“The information led to two separate raids on Thursday (March 14) in the Seri Alam area. Three local men between 16 and 29 years old were arrested during the raids,” he said in a statement here.

Supt Tan added that two mobile phones and clothes that were used by the suspects while carrying out the act were also seized.

“When interrogated, the suspects admitted that they were paid to carry out the act.

“Further investigation is ongoing to find out if the suspects are involved in any other criminal cases around Kulai or other districts,” he said, adding that all three suspects tested negative for drugs, while two have criminal records.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for knowingly causing mischief by fire.
