KUALA NERUS: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) for a three-year term, effective March 1.

UMT vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mazlan Abd Ghaffar said that Mohd Zuki’s appointment, until Feb 28, 2027, has received the consent of UMT Chancellor, the Sultanah of Terengganu Sultanah Nur Zahirah.

He said that Terengganu-born Mohd Zuki has vast experience in government and public administration, and has held the post of Chief Secretary to the Government since Dec 31, 2019.

"UMT is confident that Mohd Zuki's vast experience will help boost the university's image as the best marine-focused higher education institution in the country, and at the global level,” Mazlan said in a statement today.

Besides Mohd Zuki, UMT also has another Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman.
