BY day, the womenfolk sit by the river mouth, washing clothes. The children frolic by the beach or, further inland, play hopscotch and climb trees.

As the sun goes down, the children sit under candelight doing their homework while villagers collect water from wells or gravity pipes for cooking and for daily use.
