More companies eligible for subsidised diesel control system project, says minister

DENGKIL: The subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) project 2.0 has been expanded to include more companies in the land transport sector (goods), says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said beginning March 7 (Thursday), land transport companies that operate nine types of vehicles can apply to participate in the MySubsidi Diesel System and the Fleet Card System.

The nine vehicle types are general cargo lorries, bottled drinks lorries, refrigerated lorries, luton lorries, prime movers, flour tankers, water tankers and panelled window vans.

"Companies concerned can apply to our ministry. Once they have received approval, the companies can proceed to obtain fleet cards from any one of five participating oil companies," he said after opening a grocery store here on Wednesday (March 6).

From Feb 1, six pilot companies have been using the basic quote for subsidised diesel using a fleet card, which is part of the quote-based MySubsidi Diesel System.

Armizan said the application period for the initiative is until March 31.

"The target is for fleet card use to begin from April 1. We hope companies will cooperate and register for this initiative," he said.

He added that having a larger number of participating companies would strengthen the mechanism and monitoring for subsidised diesel.

"This approach will ensure transparency and efficiency. We will also be able to monitor the usage of diesel and prevent leakages," he explained.
