Sarawak immigration extends RTK2.0 until June

KUCHING: Immigration authorities in Sarawak will continue to implement the labour recalibration programme (RTK 2.0) until June this year, says a state Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department.

Datuk Gerawat Gala (pic), who oversees labour, immigration and project monitoring, said the new Migrant Repatriation Programme has not yet been extended to Sarawak and Sabah.

“Right now, until June, Sarawak Immigration is focusing on RTK 2.0, which is an ongoing exercise to regularise foreign workers whose work permits expired before Dec 31, 2022.

“This includes illegal workers who entered the state without any work permits before Dec 31, 2022,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Last December, Gerawat said RTK 2.0 aimed to regularise illegal immigrants in Sarawak as legal workers, subject to conditions set by the state Immigration and Labour Departments.
