Full Rukun Negara pledge recited in Dewan Rakyat for first time on Feb 27

KUALA LUMPUR: A full recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge with the preamble was made for the first time in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Feb 27).

It was led by Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin, with MPs joining in passionately.

The pledge was recited prior to Ministers' Question Time.

In a statement on Monday (Feb 26), National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said this initiative was approved by the Cabinet in July.

"This historic move is solely aimed at inculcating the spirit of unity and eradicating hatred and racism among the people of Malaysia,” he said.

The first meeting of the third session of the 15th Parliament began on Monday and will go on for 19 days until March 27.
