JPA scholars can defer bond by three years

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians studying overseas on Public Service Department (JPA) scholarships can defer their return to the country by up to three years starting next Thursday.

JPA said in a post that the deferment would allow students to pursue employment and skills while abroad.

However, it said that students must apply for the deferment as it is not an automatic eligibility.

“It is applicable for students who are in their final year pursuing their first degree overseas.

“The maximum working period is set to three years.

“This will take into account the years in the bond of service,” said JPA.

It also said students must still continue to repay their scholarship through monthly instalments.

JPA said that any adjustments on repayment would be considered after the end of the deferment period.
