MACC denies seeking information from the public to investigate Daim, Dr M

PETALING JAYA: A media statement supposedly issued by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) "seeking information on former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin and former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad" is fake.

"Fake MACC media statement," said the MACC in a post on its Facebook page Friday (Feb 9).

The statement was produced with the commission's letterhead, which is commonly issued by the commission to the media.

It falsely claimed that the MACC was seeking public help for information for its investigation on Daim and Mahathir for money laundering and failing to declare their assets.

The fake statement also offered a RM100,000 reward to anyone who provided information that could help in the investigations against the duo.
