Bidor breakout: Seven more detained, 31 still at large


IPOH: Seven more undocumented migrants who escaped from the Bidor Immigration detention centre have been recaptured.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said seven Rohingya were caught at a Felcra plantation on Jalan Kachu, Tapah at about 3pm on Wednesday (Feb 7).

"We have now recaptured 98 of the escapees.

"The police caught 73 while the Immigration Department caught 25.

"There are now 31 that remain on the loose," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Those with information about the escaped detainees are to inform the Tapah police at 05-401 1222 or the nearest police station," he added.

In the incident at 9.50pm on Feb 1, a total of 131 detainees, comprising 115 Rohingya, 15 Myanmar nationals and one Bangladeshi, escaped from the men's block of the depot during a riot.

Two were killed in accidents on the North-South Expressway.
