GE16 will mark the end of Pakatan’s rule, claims Sanusi

GEORGE TOWN: The 16th general election (GE16) will see the collapse of Pakatan Harapan rule in Putrajaya, claims Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The Perikatan Nasional election director said he is confident that the next general election will be an opportunity for the coalition to take over the government.

He said Perikatan must use the remaining time before the GE16, expected to be held by December 2027, to strengthen its election machinery and prepare for a change in government.

“This is Pakatan’s final term governing Malaysia and Perikatan’s final term as the opposition. After this, we (Perikatan) will form the Federal Government,” he claimed.

Sanusi added that Perikatan would introduce a new approach to national development based on Islamic principles if it took power.

“When that happens, we will bring a new approach to developing the country, namely developing together with Islam,” he said during his speech at the Himpunan dan Munajat Penyatuan Ummah (Himpak) at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV as reported by Kedah Online on Friday (Oct 23).

On the upcoming Sarawak state election, Sanusi said Perikatan's position would be decided by its leadership after the Melaka state election.

“The leaders will make the decision on our position regarding the Sarawak election,” he said.

He said informal discussions had been held on the possibility of synchronising elections in the four Perikatan-ruled states with GE16, but no decision had been finalised.

Sanusi also urged party members and supporters to work hard ahead of GE16, calling on Malaysians who value peace and justice to give Perikatan a chance to form the next government.
