Man killed, five injured as tree falls on house in Ipoh

IPOH: An Indonesian man has been killed and five others injured after a large tree fell on a wooden house on Jalan Tanjung Rambutan during a storm here.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer-in-charge Saiful Rizan Sulaiman said the deceased, believed to be a worker at a nearby memorial park, was pronounced dead by medical personnel at 6.15pm on Tuesday (Feb 6).

"Four other Indonesian men sustained light injuries and another badly injured.

"All have been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

Saiful Rizan said they received a call at about 5.45pm claiming there were seven people in the house.

"New information we received later revealed there were only six people, so all are accounted for," he said, adding that the operation ended at about 9.40pm.
