Ten nabbed, 2.5kg of drugs seized in raids on JB vice dens


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested 10 people, seven of them foreigners, for suspected involvement in a prostitution ring here.

Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said the suspects, aged between 26 and 56, were arrested in three separate raids around Taman Bukit Indah on Jan 25.

"We arrested three local men, one female Chinese national, five Thai women and one Vietnamese woman.

"Investigations indicate that the three men were the managers and transporters of the brothel while the Chinese woman was the assistant manager.

"The six other suspects are sex workers," he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 1) night.

He said the syndicate responsible was also believed to be involved in drugs as some 2,580.8g of narcotics were seized in the raids.

"We also seized 15 mobile phones, two keys, assorted items linked to the vice activities, and cash worth a total of RM49,600," he said.

The case is being investigated under Sections 372A, 372B and 373 of the Penal Code as well as Sections 6(1)(c) and 55E of the Immigration Act 1959/63, he added.
