Murder suspect shot dead after charging at cops with machete


SHAH ALAM: An Indonesian man who was suspected of murder has been shot dead after he charged at policemen with a machete.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the incident occurred at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (Jan 31).

"A team from Selangor CID Serious Crimes Unit (D9) conducted a raid at a flat at Taman Bukit Subang to arrest a suspect connected to the murder of a 19-year-old girl.

"In that case, which occurred two days before, the victim was stabbed eight times in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya and succumbed to her injuries," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said when police raided the flat, the suspect reacted aggressively and charged at police with a machete.

"They were forced to open fire at the suspect and fired one round in self defence.

"The suspect died in the incident," he said, adding that police retrieved a 28cm long machete from the scene.

He said the case has been classified as attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
