Dr M defends racially-charged remarks, says ready to meet National Unity Minister

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed says he is ready to meet with National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

"I am ready to meet with him," said Dr Mahathir in a post on X on Wednesday (Jan 17).

This comes after Aaron said in a post on X that his ministry is willing to meet with Dr Mahathir if he continuously voices sensitive issues which could disrupt the harmony between races.

In his post, Dr Mahathir said that those who continuously speak about multiracial harmony and criticise him on race-based issues should ask themselves why race-based parties exist.

"Why isn't there only a Malaysian party," he said.

Dr Mahathir has been embroiled in a war of words with several leaders over his statement during an interview with an Indian TV channel from India where he alleged the Indians here were not completely loyal.

"This is because they like to identify themselves with their respective countries of origin," he added.
