Two teens drown after falling into drain in Johor


KOTA TINGGI: Two friends died from drowning after falling into a drain at Kampung Perpat in Kuala Sedili here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said that police received a report about the incident around 1.25pm on Wednesday (Jan 10).

“Both victims were aged 15 and 19 years. They went out fishing in the area with their friends prior to the incident.

“They were casting their fishing nets into the drain when one of them started to play around causing both of them to slip and fall into the drain before drowning,” he said in a statement here.

The two victims have been identified as Muhammad Airell Iskandar Mohamad Aliff and Mohamad Azihan Baharum.

Supt Hussin said both bodies have been sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem and the case has been classified as sudden death.
