Guard accidentally fires gun, shatters bank door


PETALING JAYA: The security guard of a bank in Kota Damansara accidentally fired his pump gun and shattered its front door on Tuesday (Dec 26) morning.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said police received a report that a shot was heard at the bank at 10.13am.

"Police personnel were deployed to the scene and discovered that a security guard in his 50s had fired the shot.

"He had a pump gun and accidentally (discharged it), shattering the glass on the front door," he said in a statement.

No one was hurt during the incident.

"The guard tested negative for drugs. We are investigating under Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1960," he said.

Supt Hussin urged anyone with information on the case to contact Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-79662222.
