Body of missing mentally disabled man found in Sitiawan drain

IPOH: The body of a 42-year-old mentally disabled man who was reported missing two days ago was found floating in a drain at Jalan Pasir Panjang Kampung Koh, near Sitiawan, on Friday (Dec 15).

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said that the police received information on the discovery through a report lodged by the public at 5pm Friday.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim was found lying face down and stuck in the drain pipe.

"The police sought help from the Fire and Rescue Department to lift the body out of the 4m deep drain,” he said in a statement Friday night.

He said the victim's body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Seri Manjung Hospital for Covid-19 screening and a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

"The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR). People who have any information about the incident are asked to contact the nearest police station or call the operations room of the Manjung district police headquarters (IPD) at 05-688 6222,” he said. - Bernama
