A TAMIL school in Perak that’s facing closure due to rat infestation risks to pupils will soon relocate, Makkal Osai reported.

Efforts to get rid of the rodents at SJK(T) Kampung Columbia in Ayer Tawar failed and led to a warning from the Health Department.

Following discussions with the state government, the school secured a 0.8ha plot with the RM1.3mil premium for the land waived.

Efforts are under way to kickstart the process for a new building, and the state will cover the RM12,500 school bus payment for B40 students. The school currently has 45 students.

> A man in India was rescued by police after being forced into marriage at gunpoint, Makkal Osai reported.

Gautam Kumar had just started as a schoolteacher in Bihar for 12 days when he was kidnapped by two gunmen from the school.

Apparently the bride’s family had wanted a groom with a stable government job and were determined to get their man.
