Mindanao hit by 6.4-magnitude earthquake

KUALA LUMPUR: An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale has hit Mindanao in the Philippines.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake occurred at 6.36pm on Sunday (Dec 3) with a depth of 81km, with the epicentre 76km north of Bislig in the Philippines.

Based on initial assessment, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.

On Saturday (Dec 2), a 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao at 10.37pm, followed by several aftershocks. – Bernama
